Let’s make stuff up! Improvisation is the magic of creating seamless scene work out of one suggestion. Sylvia Cervantes Blush

Sylvia Cervantes Blush is a Mexican-American theater artist from Bell Gardens, CA and now lives in the City of Downey. She has been working with kids for over twenty-eight years as a dance and theater instructor for organizations like the Rio Hondo Boys & Girls Club, City of Bell Gardens, Melodie’s Dance Theatre, Oregon Junior Thespians, Cerritos College Education Department, and International City Theater of Long Beach.

She has directed musicals with the Buena Park Youth Theater, Orange County Children’s Theater, and was an assistant director and choreographer for El Largo Camino de Hoy/The Long Road Today: a play inspired by and for the residents of Santa Ana through South Coast Repertory.

As the world turned upside down in 2020, Sylvia has stayed creatively active directing with Company of Angels, Cerritos College, Tulane University in partnership with Join the Jubilee, and La Escena. In March, a stylized virtual reading produced by Launch Pad with UCSB will be presented as a developmental play on Zoom. Currently she is editing a Zoom to video project she produced and directed with 36 actors ranging in age from 4-50+ across 17 households.

Sylvia holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from UCLA.
